3Ts Think Praiseworthy Things
Friday, July 29th
6:30 – 8:30 pm
Friday, July 29, 2016, DDCommunity will process PRAISEWORTHY things during our in-depth creative study series exploring the nuances of Philippians 4:8. Join us as we investigate 3Ts – Think These Things each Friday evening in June and July from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
When we view life from God’s perspective “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28 NKJV). From my vantage point I may not be able to see any good, but God sees all things working together for good. Will I choose to focus on my perspective or God’s?
Wouldn’t you love to be able to see all things working together for good instead of living with an Eeyore mindset? To accomplish this, I must let go of my subjective frame of reference and learn the adopt God’s understanding. Truly, unless my focus lines up with God’s perspective, I am not living in truth.
Have you realized that you can actually look at one situation from multiple angles? It is easy to see the awful in many circumstances, but can we look at the same circumstance and see what is true, right, and awesome about it? Is there any way that we actually see lovely in situation that also can be viewed as terrible? Can we praise in the midst of a storm?
Philippians 4:8 tells us how to choose God’s outlook.
“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise” (NLT).
Through 3Ts – Think These Things we will learn how to understand what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise. To apply and solidify the truth in our lives we will adjust our viewpoint and create a new perspective. Some may choose to explore the personal application through discussion, while others may choose to journal thoughts, ideas, and quotes; others may create with pens, markers, colored pencils, paints, and a wide selection of art supplies. This could be the time to add to your Bible art journal. You might choose to incorporate a wide variety of options, but the point is to view what is REALLY true from God’s perspective.
Come prepared to study, meditate, and create. We recommend that you bring a journal. This may be as simple as a notebook or composition book. Other options include an art journal, a mixed media tablet, a Smash book, or your Bible Art Journal.
DDCCreativity Center is blessed with many resources including journaling pens, markers, colored pencils, stamps, ink pads, paint, gel pens, stencils, paper, scissors, glue, and all sorts of goodies. You are welcome to create with these resources while at DDC. Of course you are more than welcome to bring art supplies of your own. Feel free to contact us if you have questions!
The creative aspect of this class will NOT be very structured. Primarily it is designed for you to explore new ways that God can reveal more of Himself to you.
Space is limited, so be sure to register to reserve your spot. There is no charge for this event; however, your generous contributions enable the ministry of DDC to continue.
